ADA ELNORA MAHNKE

The funeral service for Ada Elnora Mahnke will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, 923 2nd Avenue NW in Byron, MN with Reverend Matthew Lehman officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Ada Elnora Mahnke, 93, of Kasson, MN and formerly of Hayfield, MN died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at her home in Prairie Meadows Senior Living.
Ada was born on January 28, 1918, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Peterson) Erickson at Linn Grove, IA. Her family moved to Ashland Township in Dodge County when she was very young. She graduated from Dodge Center High School and worked as a nursing assistant. Ada was united in marriage to Harold Mahnke on October 5, 1936, in Iowa. The couple farmed west of Hayfield and moved into town in 1972. Ada was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, and was a current member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Byron. Ada moved to Kasson in 2006. Ada enjoyed baking bread, pies, and lefsa. She enjoyed making fudge for her grandchildren. Ada was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed walking in the woods and picking wild flowers and her own flower garden.
Ada is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Roy) Green, Dodge Center, MN; Marjean (William) Tietje, Hayfield, MN; son, Harold Lyle (Sheryl) Mahnke, Frazee, MN; sisters, Doris Vrieze, Dodge Center, MN; Deloris Rasmussen, Dodge Center, MN; brothers, Edwin Erickson, Kasson, MN; Elmer (Helen) Erickson, West Concord, MN; fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold in 1993; three brothers and one grandson.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
