Allan ‘Al’ Ludwig Bodenstab, age 83, of Dodge Center, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Al was born on May 25, 1942, in Duluth, MN to the late Ludwig and Jane (DeLong) Bodenstab.
Al graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1960, where he was in the German Club and Thespian Club. After High School he moved to the Twin Cities where he attended the University of Minnesota before the passing of his Father altered his plans. Al graduated from Brown Institute, where he studied broadcast journalism, which allowed him to have a brief career as a radio DJ, which highlighted his love of music. For most of his adult life he worked in sales, where his charismatic and friendly nature helped him excel.
Al married Patricia Kay Duffy on July 29, 1973. Together they raised two children, and enjoyed a life filled with faith, love and laughter. Al enjoyed attending all of the extracurricular activities his children were involved in. One of his greatest joys was their annual trips to Al's favorite place, the North Shore, where they visited his childhood best friend, Cliff Linder, and his family. He continued these annual trips his entire life, until he was physically unable. Al enjoyed all things MN sports, especially the Twins and Vikings. His passion for music and singing was a theme throughout his life, whether singing oldies to his family, or participating in the church choir. Al’s sweet singing voice will be dearly missed.
Al was a humble man of God, and honored that faith by how well he treated others. He drew closer to the Lord in his final years, with his wife of 52 years by his side, spending time in prayer, reading scripture, and of course listening to worship music. Above all, Al loved his family and was proud to be a devoted Husband, Dad, Father-in-law, and Grandpa.
Allan is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Christopher (Jamie) Bodenstab; daughter Erica (Brandon) Norberg; and grandchildren, Lukas and Zackary Bodenstab and Riley and Theodore Norberg.
A visitation will take place from 4:00-6:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life service on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 25 S St SW in Dodge Center, MN with Pastor Roger Langworthy officiating. Private family interment will be the following day in Greenwood Cemetery in Superior, WI.
Al's bright smile and the twinkle in his eye could light up a room, his kind spirit touched family, friends, and everyone who knew him. To know him was to love him - and that love will endure. He is with Jesus, and at peace now.
