Allan Lloyd Scott, age 91 of Sargeant, passed away on Easter Sunday April 17th, 2022 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held at the Czaplewski Funeral Home, 501 2nd St NW, Hayfield, MN on Friday April 22th, 4:00 - 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday April 23rd, 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 66632 300 St. Dexter, MN with visitation one hour before. There will be military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Post #330.
Resurrection Sunday, Allan worshiped at a sunrise service and enjoyed fellowship with a delicious brunch at his home church, Zion Lutheran. Later that day, Allan suffered an aortic aneurysm. In the last hours of his earth day, he was surrounded by family; many stories and tears were shared. As the day drew to a close, Allan took his last breath and Eileen declared, “(Allan) has risen!!!”
Allan Lloyd Scott was born on September 19th, 1930, in Anoka County, Minnesota to Edwin and Myrtle Scott. He was baptized on December 9th, 1956, at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka. Allan spent the majority of his childhood living in the town of St. Francis. At age 12, he lived on a farm with an elderly couple and found his love of dirt and animals as he helped with chores. Allan also attended high school in St. Francis at this time. At age 21, he moved to Albert Lea and continued to develop his farming skills while working on a hog and dairy farm. He served in the US Army from 1952 - 1954 in the Hawaiian Islands & Wisconsin. At 26 years old, Allan attended the University of Minnesota Agriculture School on the St. Paul Campus under the GI Bill from 1956 to 1957.
On December 15th, 1956, he married the love of his life, Eileen Johnson, at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka. Together, they began farming in Conger, later moving to the Rochester area; in 1968 they put roots down in Hayfield. In addition, handyman Allan also worked as a carpenter, mechanic, and other various jobs. However, his most important role was a father of his three sons, Mark (Sherri) Scott, Chris (Jenny) Scott, and John (Lisa) Scott and his two daughters, Tracie (Dale) Bjorklund and Leah (Chip) Montgomery. He also relished his role as grandpa and includes in order of age: Josh Scott, Tera Malyszko, Gabrielle Boysen, Jenny Stenzel, Tina Scott, Joseph Bjorklund, Sally Scott, Marshall Bjorklund, Joseph Montgomery, Matthew Mongomery, Sarah Hentges, Seema Scott, Wenyi Scott, Hong Scott, Elizabeth Montgomery, Yumin Scott, Skyler Scott, and Montana Scott. Grandpa Allan was blessed further with 13 great grandchildren.
Allan enjoyed leadership roles and served in many capacities from church to civic organizations. He especially enjoyed his role as township supervisor. Allan was a curious individual, he enjoyed investigating new agricultural innovations to meeting new friends to solving the latest mechanical challenge. The other love in his life were his Golden Retrievers, Allan had five generations of Rusty’s on the farm.
Allan is survived by his wife, Eileen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Scott, sister Donna Erwin, and most recently his daughter-in-law, Sherri Scott.
