ALLEN MERLE SIMONSON

Allen Merle Simonson, 90, of Hayfield and formerly of rural Sargeant, MN passed away on December 22, 2018 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Allen was born on November 13, 1928 the son of Lionel and Ruth (Scharberg) Simonson in Sargeant Township, Mower County MN. He graduated from Hayfield High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. Allen was united in marriage to June Morehead on June 23, 1951 in Grayslake, IL. After returning from his duty in the Navy he farmed in the Sargeant area and worked at IBM for 22 years. Allen enjoyed fishing, flying, camping and he and June spent 35 years going south to Meza, AZ.

Allen is survived by his wife, June Simonson, Hayfield, MN; children, Michael (Patty) Simonson, Spring Valley, MN; Cathy (Henry) Hoyt, Prescott, AZ; Linda Simonson, Rochester, MN; Diane (Paul) Stanton, Hayfield, MN; Nancy (Richard) Beechum, Adel, IA; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ramon (Gloria) Simonson, Rochester, MN; three sisters, Adeline Sager, Denton, TX; Denise (Ernest) Bourgeois; and Shirlee (Richard) Labuda, both of Grand Junction, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Judith Ann Simonson.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2 ^nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660 ^th Avenue in Sargeant, MN. Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330.
