ALLISTER "AL" CAROL HULST

Allister Carol Hulst, 82, of rural Waltham, MN went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN after battling cancer for 14 years.
Allister "Al" the son of Ralph N. Hulst and Margaret Dolphin Hulst was born on December 25, 1928, in Chicago, IL. The family moved several times, because of his father's job. The family moved to Sioux City, IA in 1939. Al joined the US Navy in February of 1946, and was discharged in November of 1947. He had various jobs and in 1950, he farmed with his dad west of Austin, MN. Al married Margaret Brown on September 30, 1951, and they lived in Mason City, IA. In 1957, they moved to Waltham, MN and have resided in the area until the present. He retired from farming on January 1, 1994. Al was a member of Bethlehem Free Methodist Church of Austin, MN. Al had a special love for family and friends. He was a good, kind and giving man to everyone. Al enjoyed farming, fishing, traveling, and family activities. You could always find him fixing something or helping someone.
Al is survived by his wife, Margaret Hulst, rural Waltham, MN; son, Gregory (Kathy) Hulst, Waltham, MN; grandchildren, Jennifer Hulst, Bloomington, MN; Tara (Sean) Arndt, Waltham, MN; Tiffany (Brian) Clemenson, Zumbrota, MN; Justin Wood, Waltham, MN; Samuel Hulst, Waltham, MN; four great grandchildren; two brothers Marlyn (Lois) Hulst, Sioux City, IA; Lewellyn (Barbara) Austin, MN; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Keith Wood.
Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2011, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
