ANITA ALMA SENJEM

Anita Alma Senjem, 104, passed away on October 8, 2022, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Anita was born on August 31, 1918, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Milius) Matter in Waltham, MN.  She attended Waltham School and graduated from Hayfield High School.  Anita was united in marriage to Ralph Senjem on August 20, 1940 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Waltham.

Anita was a homemaker and worked at JC Penny in Rochester and also at Roberts Ladies Fine Dress Apparel.  Anita had many interests throughout her life.  She and Ralph enjoyed fishing together, especially on Lake Winnibigoshish and Cliff Lake.  She learned to golf after retirement.  She also had a passion for playing cards and always had a deck of cards in her purse, “just in case”.  She loved to bake, especially lefse.  She made countless dozens of lefse before Christmas and shared with family and friends.  She also made many quilts and gave them as gifts to the family.  Anita loved her family, and her highlight of the year was Christmas day when all the generations of her family would gather at their house.  Anita also loved her church and through the years she gave many hours singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school and participating in any way she could to help.

Anita is survived by her children, Jeaneen Staples, Star Prairie, WI; SueAnn (Al) Collinge, Rochester, MN; LaDonna (Bryan) Senjem-Olson, Pine Island, MN; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; two brothers, two sisters, three infant sons, Steven and twin boys, Dennis and Dallas; one grandson and one great grandson, son-in-law, Mark Staples.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33504 660 ^th Avenue, Sargeant, MN with Reverend Jackie Short officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery.  The family requests that memorials be made to Evanger Lutheran Church.  Blessed be her memory.
