ARTYS JEAN JENSEN

Artys "Jean" Jensen, 96, of Hayfield, MN passed away on September 8, 2018, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.

Jean was born on October 12, 1921, the daughter of Glenn and Myrtle (Rahm) Kidd in Wykoff, MN. Jean graduated from Blooming Prairie High School, but found her true love the next town over in Hayfield. She married Wallace Jensen on her birthday, October 12, 1940, and they made their home on a farm three miles north of Hayfield, where they raised their two children, Barb and Michael. Back in the day, she worked at Alrick's and Peterson's Grocery Stores in Hayfield, and later at K-Mart in Rochester. Jean was a Legion Auxiliary Member as well as an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She loved taking care of her garden, where she grew the most lovely flowers and wonderful vegetables. Jean did a lot of canning back in the day, and people still talk about Jean's beet pickles. They were the best you've ever had.

Jean is survived by her children, Barbara (Ken) Fjerstad, Lanesboro, MN; Michael (Lonnie) Jensen, Cedar Falls, IA; five grandchildren, Brian and Eva Fjerstad, Jodi Bailey (Robert Plombon), Jill and Michael Dougherty Thayne and Jennifer Jensen, Amy and James Trotter; ten great grandchildren, Anne and Chad Meurer, Amber and Doc Sass, Clinton Bailey, Jensen Bailey, Grace Dougherty, Gabe Dougherty, Paige Jensen, Erin Jensen, Lauren Trotter, Jensen Marie Trotter; and two great-great grandchildren, Brooks and Evie Meurer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2001; one brother and one sister.

Friends and family may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield. A Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
