Barbara Mae Nord

Barbara Mae Nord, 83, of Byron, MN passed away at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN on July 13, 2022.

Barbara was born on October 25, 1938, the daughter of Ernest and Hilaria (Greene) Dahlen in Dodge County, MN. She graduated from Hayfield High School in 1955, and married Dale Curtis on March 13, 1955 and they were later divorced.  On February 26, 1981, she was united in marriage to Mark Nord.

Barbara was a cook at the Dodge County Nursing Home and later a bookkeeper for the Vernon Creamery.  She worked at IBM for 25 years.  Barbara enjoyed reading, square dancing, playing cards, traveling, being a driver for the Amish, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children, David Curtis, Sargeant, MN; Deborah (Steven) Schuck, Hayfield, MN; Diane (Jeff) Mittelstadt, Spring Valley, MN; Doug Curtis, Wanderoos, WI; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Hubert; 1 ^st husband, Dale Curtis; and 2 ^nd husband, Mark Nord.

The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 70640 260 ^th Avenue, Hayfield, MN with Reverend Paul Thompson officiating. The visitation will be one hour before the service.  Inurnment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hayfield.
