Berenice Adora Smith

The funeral for Berenice A. Smith will be Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center, with the Reverend David Westlake officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.

Mrs. Smith, a life long resident of the Dodge Center area, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital.

Berenice was born on July 23, 1928. The daughter of Raymond and Gertrude Libby. She united in marriage to Dahl (Pete) Kleeberger February 23, 1946 in Northfield, MN Dahl passed away on July 25, 1973. Berenice and Clarence Smith were married October 11, 1974 in the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. Berenice was a member of the United Methodist Church, Zumbro Chapter #131 Order of the Eastern Star, Dodge County Historical Society and served as President of the local, county and District organizations of the American Legion Auxiliary as wells as Historian and Leadership chairman of the Department American Legion Auxiliary. Berenice and husband, Clarence enjoyed traveling by covered wagon on the 1976 Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage from St. Paul, MN to Valley Forge, participating in Wagon Train reunions in Toronto, Canada, Michigan, South Dakota and hosted the MN reunion, spending time with her family, reading and playing cards.

In addition to her husband, Clarence she is survived by three daughters, Brenda Kleeberger of Rosemount, MN, Bonnie (John) Sontag of Farmington, MN and Trudy West of Rochester, MN; one son, Blair (Kathie) Kleeberger of Doge Center; 9 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister; and one great grandchild.

Friends and family may call during visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center in and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
