Beth I. Johnson

Beth Irene Johnson, 94, returned to her heavenly home on February 20, 2018 after a short illness. Her devotion to family was surpassed only by her love for God.

Beth was born to the late Harry and Marie (Dawson) Woodward on April 7, 1923 in Bethel, MN. She spent her early years helping her Dad on the farm, and later attended country schools in West Concord. She was a workhorse who never complained, and was a helper to everyone. She was an unselfish woman who gave of herself often.

Beth was blessed with a loving family. She married Allan Johnson on September 10, 1941 at First Baptist Church in West Concord. Beth raised three children with a firm hand and loving heart. She was the Sunday school secretary for many years.  She rarely missed a Sunday and ensured that when a new baby was born, the family was presented with a red rose. Later, she began working at Olson's store in Old Concord, and then spent years working afternoons at Vogel's Bakery until she retired.

Beth loved watching Murder, She Wrote and Matlock, and she loved a good piece of chocolate. She was a fantastic cook, even though she didn't like to do it. Beth's greatest affection, however, was reserved for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She spent tireless hours babysitting, sewing the occasional funky outfit or costume, shopping, and teaching them how to read.

Beth is survived by her brother Donnie (Jeanine) Woodward of Yuma, AZ.  Her sons, Larry Johnson, Gary (Jeannie) Johnson, and her daughter, Judy Boyer, all of Dodge Center MN, grandchildren Kate (Faron) Staffon, Dodge Center, Stephanie (Michael) Cappelletti, Cambridge MA, Jaime (Scot) French of Edina, MN, Michael (Christy) Boyer, Rochester, MN, Kim Johnson, Rochester, MN, Tim Johnson, Oronoco MN, Jim (Heather) Johnson, Dodge Center, MN, great grandchildren, Taylor and Haley Staffon, Dodge Center, MN, Maxxwell and Alessandro Cappelletti, Cambridge, MA, Avery French, New York, NY, and Hadley and Cambrie French, Edina, MN, Zachary, Sydney, Melanie, Jonathan, and Jacob Boyer, Rochester, MN, Cruz Robinson, Rochester, MN, Cori (Brian) Hauser, Rochester, MN, Emily and Ally Gunderson, Rochester, MN, Corbin Johnson, Oronoco, MN, Dillanjer Johnson, Dodge Center, MN.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Marie Woodward, sisters June (Orval) Baldridge, Donna (Stanley) Erickson, Jean (Robert) Johnston, her husband Allan, a daughter-in-law Betty Johnson, son-in-law Rex Boyer, grandson Douglas Johnson, a great grandson, Isaac Boyer, and Mr. Peepers.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center, MN with the Reverend David Breederland officiating.  Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
