Beth Marie Samuelson

Beth M. Samuelson, 93, of Hayfield, MN died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.

Beth Marie Albert was born October 25, 1924 in Chester, Iowa to Jack and Clara (Ebel) Albert. She graduated from Chester, Iowa High School and was very proud of being on the championship team of girls’ basketball for Chester, where they brought home the first trophy in 1940.  She married Duane Gilbertson in 1945 and they had three children.  Duane died in 1957.  Beth married Cecil Samuelson on June 26, 1960, they had a son, Scott and were a devoted couple until Cecil’s death in May 2016.  She worked for Hormel, Weyerhauser and Hayfield Window Company during her lifetime.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Beth is survived by her children, Beverly Blomquist of Nashville, TN, Cleone (Rande) Hemingway of Taopi, MN, Les (Mary) Gilbertson of Winona, MN and Scott Samuelson of Rochester, MN; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil; sister, Evelyn (Simes) Scheer; a twin sister, Betty May; her brothers, Lorraine, Lester, Vernie and Jackson; and a son-in-law, David Blomquist.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran church in Hayfield, MN with the Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating.  Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
