BETTE JANE SCHERGER

The funeral mass for Bette Jane Scherger will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at St. John Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church, 20 2nd Street NE, Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Will Thompson celebrating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Bette Jane Scherger, 59, left this world on October 26, 2010 at her home in Dodge Center.
Bette Jane LaCanne was born on August 27, 1951, the daughter of Vincent and Marie (Freeman) LaCanne in Faribault, MN. Bette attended country School District #1824, where she had the distinct pleasure of walking uphill to and from school, until the end of 6th grade. Then she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Bethlehem Academy. Bette worked for Northwestern Bell from 1968-1975. In June of 1973, she married Larry Scherger. In August of 1979, they moved to Dodge Center, MN and started farming. She would always ask her children if they could smell the dirt in the Spring. They thought she had dirt for blood as she lived and breathed farming. Bette's best shopping sprees were at farm auctions and implement dealers, and of course seed and fertilizer dealers. Also buying gifts she just knew Larry needed, so she could use them. Bette loved to plant her flowers and garden or just planting things. In her spare time she worked for Corey's Laundry and Cleaning.
Bette is survived by her husband, Larry Scherger, Dodge Center, MN; sons, Lee (Brynn) SchergerSologuk; Luke Scherger; daughter, Ellen (Travis) Pearson; granddaughter, Christine; five brothers, Vince Jr. (Irene) LaCanne, Faribault, MN; Terry (Barb) LaCanne, Kenyon, MN; Rob (JoAnn) LaCanne, Salado, TX; Harold (Diane) LaCanne, Faribault, MN; Dan (Jean) LaCanne, Faribault, MN; four sisters, Marilyn Beaupré, Mandeville, LA; Rose Pirkl, Owatonna, MN; Jeanette (Ron) Hammond, Faribault, MN; Sheila (Steve) Castle, Faribault, MN; and brother-in-law, Francis (Jean) Coughlin, Ellendale, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010, at St. John Baptist de la Salle Catholic Church and one hour before the service on Saturday.
