Bryce Jared Samuelson, age 36, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his home in Rochester, MN. He was born March 28, 1982 in Rochester to David and Wanda (Olson) Samuelson and was the youngest of three children. Bryce grew up on the family’s farm in rural Hayfield. He was employed at Walmart South in Rochester as a retail sales associate in the electronics area. Bryce graduated from Hayfield High School in 2000, from Riverland Technical College in 2003 and from the University of Minnesota in 2006.
Bryce had a kind soul that enjoyed spending time with family. He loved to travel and spend time near the ocean. He enjoyed anything that involved technology, getting and showing off the latest tech gadgets. He lit up when helping family, friends and his customers at Walmart South with their tech needs and questions. Bryce was an active member of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). He was a past president of the Rochester chapter of the NFB and a board member of the state organization. He served 2 terms on the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and was a current board member of the Minnesota Disability Library in Faribault.
Bryce was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Hilder and Mabel Samuelson, and maternal grandparents Melroy and Shirley Olson. He is survived by his parents; his brother Brian Samuelson and wife Michele of Benson; his sister Becky (Samuelson) Leigh and her husband Dave of Rochester; nephew Devin Samuelson of Mankato and nieces Avrie Leigh, Katherine, Anna & Taylor Samuelson. His family will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2 nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 2 nd Street NE in Hayfield with Father Thomas Niehaus celebrating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
