Carie Marie Rud

Carie Marie Rud, 87, of Byron, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Benedictine Living Community in Byron, MN from Alzheimer’s disease.

Carie was born on January 27, 1939, in Rock Dell Township to George Sr. and Mildred (Lien) Evjen. She graduated from Byron High School in 1957. After graduation she worked at Waters Conley and then at Mayo Clinic as a desk attendant for several different departments for 25 years.

Carie enjoyed dancing, traveling, horses, and music. She always looked forward to a good margarita and a trip to the casino. She was the life of the party at every family gathering and especially loved spending time with her family during the holidays. She adored her dog, Pupper and her cat, Suzie.

The family of Carie would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Benedictine Living Community and Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Carie is survived by her children, Joanna Meyer, Dawn Rasmussen, Danny (Cheryl) Quimby, Donny (Ann) Quimby, and Missi Atkinson; grandchildren, Rob (Carol) Meyer III, Todd (Stephanie) Meyer, Jennifer Meyer, Sonja (Brian) Hadler, Shane (Chrissy) Schimek, Amanda Wellner, Amber (Dustin) Lambert, Alicia Minnis, Heather (Chris) Nordine, Shelli (Chris) Conrad, Nick (Sara) Quimby, Katrina Olson, Crystal Quimby, Zachary (Amy) Atkinson, and Austin Atkinson; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, George Jr., Cleo, Willis, Ole, Elaine, and Rachel.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 68905 280th Ave in Kasson, MN with Pastor Pete Wyttenbach officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in Kasson, MN. Burial will be in South Zumbro Lutheran Church cemetery in Kasson, MN.
