Carol Ann Slawson-Rupp

Carol Ann Slawson-Rupp 79, of Kasson, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April, 19, 2025, at her daughter's home in Rushford, MN.

Carol Ann Westra was born in Wilmar, MN on June 3, 1945, to John and Marjorie Westra.  In 1957, when Carol was twelve her family moved to Rochester, MN where she lived next door to the love of her life, Glenn Slawson.  Carol and Glenn were married on December 10, 1960, in her family’s home.  Shortly after their first son, Dean was born quickly followed by another son, Rick and daughter, Julie.  Carol and Glenn moved their young family to North Carolina so Glenn could pursue his love of stock car racing with the loving support of Carol… lol.   Later they moved back to Rochester, MN where their raised their family.  Fifteen years later, in 1979, after their first three children Dean, Rick, and Julie were born and raised, Carol and Glenn’s family grew larger unexpectedly with the surprise birth of another daughter, Kristina, followed by daughter, Sue the following year.

Carol started working for the Rochester Public Schools in 1985, as a Food Service Lunch Lady.  She worked as a lunch lady for 30 years before retiring.   After the passing of Glenn in 2000, Carol remarried William Rupp in 2002.  Carol moved to Colorado where she and William lived for two years.  While in Colorado, Carol pursued her career as a Food Service Lunch Lady.  In 2004, Carol and William moved back home to Rochester.  After the passing of her second husband, William in 2008, Carol stayed in Rochester and then later moved to Kasson with her then love of her life, her dog Gizmo.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she also enjoyed going to craft shows and going to lunch with friends and family.  She also enjoyed sitting outside taking in all the sights and sounds of nature.

Carol has sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.  Carol was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Carol is survived by her son, Dean (Lori) Slawson of Pine Island, MN; son, Rick (Teri) Slawson of Trempealeau, WI; daughter, Julie Stock of Kasson, MN; daughter, Kristina (Paul) Mart of Rushford, MN; and daughter, Sue (Judd) Smith of Rochester, MN; sister, Mary (Richard) Nelson of Kasson, MN; brother, Jim (Mary Jo) Westra of Byron, MN; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Joyce Smith and Cathy Crofton; along with her companion, James Nosbush.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marjorie Westra; husbands, Glenn Slawson and William Rupp; sister, JoAnn Miller; and brother, Roger Westra.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE Kasson, MN.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2025, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson, MN and one hour prior to her service on Tuesday.  Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.
