Carol was born on September 24, 1936, in Clarkfield, MN to Julius and Clara (Gautefall) Berre. She was confirmed and married by Rev. A.N. Olson at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. On January 9, 1955, her maternal grandmother’s birthday, she married Lyle Tjosaas from Benson, MN. Seven children were born to the union. Lyle died in 2013.

She also belonged to the Zumbro Willing Workers Home Extension Club, Birthday Club, and Sons of Norway Nortonna Lodge. She was a 4-H leader for many years and took a special interest in knitting and crafts. She loved traveling with her husband to his dairy meetings across the United States, special lake vacations and an Alaskan cruise with dear friends, and traveling to Norway to visit extended family.
