The funeral service for Cecil Adair Samuelson will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday 2, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 ~ 1st Street SE in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Cecil Adair Samuelson, 87, of Hayfield passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Field Crest Assisted Living in Hayfield.
Cecil was born on April 30, 1929, the son of Martin and Ruth (Jacobson) Samuelson in Waltham, MN.
Cecil attended four years of school in Sargeant, then started 6th grade at Kewanee, IL at the age of 12, and graduated in 1947. At the age of 22, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he worked in the Picture and Photography Unit. He was united in marriage to Beth Gilbertson on June 26, 1960, and immediately became a Dad to three of her children, Beverly, Cleone, and Les. His son, Scott was born two years later. Cecil worked for Standard Oil Company for many years and later worked for Dodge County for 22 years and then retired.
Cecil was a past member of the Hayfield School Board for 27 years, Field Crest Care Center Board and was a lifetime member of the Hayfield American Legion and an avid sports fan.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Beth of 55 years; children, Beverly Blomquist, Nashville, TN; Cleone (Rande) Hemmingway, Taopi, MN; Leslie (Mary) Gilbertson, Winona, MN; and his son, Scott Samuelson, Rochester, MN; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Sherwin and Russell Samuelson; sister-in-law, Irene and son-in-law, David Blomquist. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of the service. Blessed be his memory.
