CECILE IRENE HEGNA

The funeral service for Cecile Irene Hegna will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660th Avenue, Sargeant, MN with Reverend Dwight Dobell officiating. Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery.
Cecile Irene Hegna, 96, of rural Hayfield died on December 31, 2012, at her home in rural Hayfield.
Cecile was born on September 27, 1916, in Vernon Township, Dodge County, MN the daughter of Helmer and Clara (Moe) Hauglum. She attended school in Vernon Township, Dodge County, MN and graduated from Kasson High School and Winona State College. Cecile was united in marriage to Leland Hegna on November 2, 1940, at West St. Olaf Church. Cecile taught in rural area country schools, Dodge Center and Kasson elementary schools for a total 47 years. She taught Sunday School and was active in Ladies Aide. Cecile enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, canning, flowers, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Cecile is survived by her husband of 72 years, Leland Hegna, Hayfield, MN; children, Leslie (Doris Jean) Hegna, Byron, MN; Linda (Clay III) Fisher, Garden Grove, CA; Rodney (Jennifer) Hegna, Hayfield, MN; Brenda Hanson, Hayfield, MN; 20 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Bernice Giesler, and Inez Hauglum both of Hayfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Rudy Hauglum; one son, Sidney; and one daughter, Dorothy Hegna; and one daughter-in-law, JoAnne Hegna.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW, Hayfield, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
