CHARLOTEE JANE MORTENSON

Charlotte Jane Mortenson, age 93, died on August 6, 2017, in Hebron, KY. She was formerly from Dodge Center, MN. Her funeral will be at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dodge Center on August 24, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation two hours before the service.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.

One of six children, she was born to Charles and Stella Mae (Gay) Carter in Des Moines, IA, on August 5, 1924. She graduated from high school in Norcator, KS, in 1942, and was a graduate of Holy Rosary Hospital School of Nursing in Miles City, MT, in 1946. Thereafter she moved to Owatonna, MN, where she practiced nursing for 32 years. She married a pharmacist, Arthur J. Mortenson, in 1952. They moved in 1971, to Dodge Center, where they owned the drug store. Art died in 1997. Charlotte continued to reside in Dodge Center until 2010, when she moved to Dillsboro, IN, to be near her son and his family. She spent the last year of her life living with her son in Hebron, KY.

She is survived by one son, Terry Mortenson (wife: Margie), in Hebron, KY, and one daughter, Kari Nelson (husband: Bruce), in Englewood, CO, plus 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; also an AFS “adopted” daughter, Candayce (husband: Pat) Detloff in Oregon City, OR, and their 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter. Also surviving are her sister, Ragena Bone, her brother, Robert Carter (wife: Marilyn), 4 nephews and 2 nieces, all living in Kansas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and two sisters. Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Dodge Center, MN, is in charge of arrangements.
