Clara Scharberg

CLARA SCHARBERG

The funeral service for Clara Scharberg, known as "Auntie Clara" by all of the community, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church 70640 260th Avenue, Hayfield, MN with Reverend Darby Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery.

Clara Scharberg, 98, passed away at her home in Hayfield on November 12, 2013.

Clara was born on November 7, 1915, the daughter of Knute S. and Karina (Emerson) Boyum.
Clara was united in marriage to H. Victor Scharberg on October 6, 1935 in rural Kasson. Victor died on January 17, 1978.

Clara was one of 11 children. She grew up on the family farm in rural Kasson and attended Flatta Country School. After graduation she went to work as a housekeeper for August Scharberg. She was a farm wife, then later worked at Libby's for over 15 years. She was active in Al-anon, a member of the auxiliary at Field Crest and did volunteer work at Field Crest until the time of her passing. Clara was known for her Norwegian Baking. She loved to make Krumkake and lefse. She loved to collect poems, and was a caretaker for her father-in-law until his death and also took care of her mother. Clara was a member of West St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Rebecca Circle, and WELCA.

Clara is survived by two brothers, Walter L. Boyum, Pine Island, MN; and Elmer R. Boyum, Kasson, MN. She will be lovingly remembered by her special family, Carol (Ron) Rick, Dixon, IL; Norlyn Boyum, Peoria, AZ; and Kendall (Julie) Boyum, Hayfield, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2013, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
