Cletis Eugene Myster, age 99, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Madonna Towers in Rochester, Minnesota.
Cletis Eugene Myster was born on April 29, 1922 in Hayfield, Minnesota to Wallace and Serene (Evjen) Myster. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Theater and was recalled to the Korean War. Cletis was a fiercely independent person who loved politics, sports and his country. He enjoyed a good story and dancing and entertaining with his friends. While he moved around a lot in life, first in the Midwest as an insurance agent and then living for 30 years in Las Vegas, Nevada after retirement, he always looked forward to coming back to southern Minnesota and especially Hayfield. He was a 52-year member of Hayfield Post #330 and Past Commander of Wells, Minnesota Post #210 of the American Legion.
Cletis was preceded in death by his father, mother, sister Jane (Myster) Rice, and grandson John Winkels.
He is survived by his children, Susan King of Menomonie, WI, Randall Myster of Saint Paul, MN, Roberta Schendel of Rochester, MN, Robin (Tim) Winkels of Rochester, MN, James (Susan) Myster of Saint Paul, MN; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The graveside funeral service will take place on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Fairview Cemetery, ½ mile south of the intersection of Highways 30 and 56, just west of Hayfield. Military honors will be provided by the Hayfield American Legion Post #330. A luncheon will be provided at the American Legion Hall Post #330, 7 Main Street West, Hayfield, MN 55940 immediately following the funeral.
