DARREL JEAN HARVEY
Darrel Jean Harvey, age 73, died Tuesday morning, July 28, 2009, at his home in Brownsdale, MN. Darrel was born on April 11, 1936, to Clifford and Blanche (Rabine) Harvey in Brownsdale, MN where he grew up. On April 14, 1956, he married Janice A. Grant. As a young adult he worked for Frank Lickteig, and Ralph Grant Construction, his father-in-law. The couple moved to Northwood, IA in 1957, and Darrel worked for Alfred Swensrud. In 1963, they moved to Gruver, TX and he worked on a ranch for Don McLain, Fred Meyer, Inc. and Attebury Grain out of Amarillo, TX. Darrel retired in 2000, and the couple moved to Weslaco, TX. In 2005, they moved back to Brownsdale, MN to enjoy family and friends.
Darrel is survived by his lovely wife, Janice Grant, Brownsdale, MN; 4 children, Dena (Leonard) Dickmeyer, Valley, NE; Rick (Sandy) Harvey, Valparaiso, IN; Gina (Rodney) McDowell, Gruver, TX; Todd (LaFonda) Harvey, Taylor TX; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Wayne (Marlys) Harvey, Blooming Prairie, MN; Delmar (Shirley) Harvey, Ocala, FL; Ronnie (Diane) Harvey, Stewartville, MN; Fred (Helen) Harvey, Taopi, MN; Dick (Carol) Harvey, Shepherdsville, KY; 2 sisters, Lois Oleson, Kensett, IA; Linda (Ken) Thomas, Byron, MN; mother-in-law, Eldora Grant, Brownsdale, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Mavis Harvey, Blooming Prairie, MN; Nancy Grant Renville, MN; 3 brothers-in-law, Jim Grant, Renville, MN; Den Grant, Chaska, MN; Wes Grant, Holmen, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Harvey; 1 sister, Mary Jane Harvey; father-in-law, Ralph Grant; 2 sisters-in-law, Sandra and Debra Kay Grant; and 1 brother-in-law, Fred Oleson.
Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1st at the residence of Eldora Grant at 311 North Mill Street in Brownsdale, MN with Reverend Jeffrey Sage officiating. Lunch will follow the service.
