Darrel Dan Kiefer, 64, of Rochester, MN passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday February 8, 2021.
Darrel was born on February 13, 1956 to Loren and Marion (O’Brien) Kiefer in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1974. While attending high school, Darrel began his passion for painting and auto body repair at McNeilus Steel. After high school Darrel went on to work for Gordy’s, Pepsi and ended his career working at The Mayo Clinic. Darrel married Barbara Bakkedahl and they had two children together, and later divorced. Darrel met Joan-Marie Stier in 1996 and they were married August 26, 2006.
Darrel was a car enthusiast his entire life, working on and building classic cars, going to car shows and cruises. He also enjoyed dancing, listening to music, reminiscing with friends, and taking vacations to warm getaways, including recent trips to Cuba, Belize, and Honduras. Darrel loved being outside going camping, fishing and took great pride in his yard and his flower gardens. Darrel was a compassionate man, always putting others first and was always lending a hand to help. He had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Above all, family, his children and his grandchildren were the most important part of Darrel’s life. He will be greatly missed.
Darrel is survived by his wife, Joan-Marie; children, Kayla (James) Bonebrake of Little Falls, MN and Brock Kiefer of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Aden, Brianna and Brooklyn; mother, Marion Kiefer of Dodge Center, MN; sisters, Sharon Narveson of Kasson, MN and Cheryl (Kevin) Hornberg of Bethany, MN. Darrel was preceded in death by his loving father, Loren Kiefer and his twin brother, Delmer.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be observed.
