Darrold George “Buzz” Flury

Darrold “Buzz” Flury, 87 of Dodge Center died peacefully on July 22, 2017, at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield of congestive heart failure.

Darrold Flury was born July 25, 1929, in Rochester, Minnesota to Ernest and Hattie Flury. Darrold attended school in Rochester and worked in Marion for his aunt on her farm.

Darrold was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Army during 1951-1954, and held the rank of Sergeant (T). After returning home, he met and married Naomi Lea Samson on June 30, 1956.  He worked for the Great Western Railroad as a lineman, then New Hampton, Iowa Municipal Power Plant as lineman, then returning to Minnesota, he drove as cross country truck driver and owned his own company, Flury Trucking.  Darrold owned and operated the Flury Inn Bar and Grill in Dodge Center, and lastly drove bus and van for Triton School District.

Darrold was a lifelong member of the VFW, member of the American Legion Wells Peterson Post 384 in Dodge Center, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Rochester, also served as President of the Minnesota Independent Truckers Association and member of the United Methodist Church, Dodge Center.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years, Naomi Lea, of Dodge Center; children, Terry Berg of Faribault, Cathy Radil of Thief River Falls, Alan (Kathy) Flury of Sundance, Wyoming and Donald Flury of Yellville, Arkansas; survived by sisters, Ora Stoppel and Teens (Tom) Brogan; brothers, Ernie (Becky), Tinker (Sherry) Flury; sister-in-law Karen Flury and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hattie, and brothers, Norval, Dwayne and Jim.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Czaplewski Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center. The funeral service will be held at the Czaplewski Funeral Home on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 2:00 p.m.  Inurnment will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Preston, Minnesota at a later date.
