David Alan Bungum was born in Austin, MN on August 31, 1967 to Victor and Arletta Bungum. He passed away at his home in Sargeant, MN on October 4, 2021 at the age of 54.
David grew up in Sargeant, MN and attended Evanger Lutheran Church and Hayfield Community Schools. He married his high school sweetheart, Lisa Gesme on October 19, 1991. Together, they fulfilled their dream of living in the country and raising a family. David worked many years in the utility/telecommunication industry. David was passionate about animals and raised Czech Line German Shepherds for the past 8 years. David’s greatest accomplishment was his role as a dad to his four children teaching them how to hunt, fish, play guitar, walk the woods, grow a garden, games of PIG in the driveway (he would always call bank), playing catch, race in the backyard, make a campfire, plant a tree, pick wildflowers, playing Risk and 500, and having ‘snuggle nights’ watching Looney Tunes and Andy Griffith. A family tradition often held in the kitchen was to gather in a circle, hold hands and say a “Team Prayer”. It was in these moments he would pray for peace and protection over his family, ask for forgiveness and set us all off to have a great day. “Say your Prayers” was coupled with “I Love You” and a peck on the cheek.
Mental illness can be intense or silent and the struggle for each person is different. “Be Kind” and love one another no matter what.
David is survived by his wife, Lisa Bungum; children, Evan (Autumn)Bungum of Brainerd, MN, Johanna (Cole) Kruger of Hayfield, Brooke and Erik Bungum; his sweet granddaughter Nora Mae, siblings, Bruce (Gail) Bungum of Sargeant, Carol Braun of Rochester, Pam (Chuck) Nieman of Byron, June (Herb) Howard of Rochester, Brenda (Gregg) Koch of Glenville, Dean (Shelly) Bungum of Sargeant. He is survived by loving in-laws, nieces and nephews and special friends.
