DAVID DUANE STODDARD
The memorial service for David Duane Stoddard will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church, 308 ~ 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center with Reverend Barbara Streed officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Inurnment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN.
David Duane Stoddard, 68, passed away at his home in Dodge Center on July 9, 2015.
David was born on July 22, 1946, the son of Robert and Frances S. (Sand) Stoddard in Lake City, MN. He attended Mazeppa, MN schools. After graduating in 1964, he enlisted in the Navy and was not accepted due to health conditions. He entered Barber College in St. Paul and after passing the state exam he barbered in the area for 25 years, operating Dave's Barbershop in Rochester and then in Dodge Center.
David was united in marriage to Mary Baker in Pine Island in 1967. They lived in Dodge Center, raising two daughters and being active in the community. While barbering he became a substitute rural mail carrier and later became a regular in 1985. He retired from the post office in 2003. David was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center; past member of the Dodge Center Chamber; Dodge Center Lions; Dodge Center Lions Clown Club; and Dodge Center Legion Sons of Vets.
David was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing vacations with friends and family. He enjoyed lakes around Longville and Walker, MN.
David is survived by his wife, Mary Stoddard, Dodge Center, MN; daughters, JoLeen (Arick) Hammon, Kasson, MN; and Jennifer (Jeremy) Posey, Claremont, MN; six grandchildren, Andrea Stoddard, Rochester, MN; Thomas Weber, Claremont, MN; Brandon Stafford and Ben Stafford, both of Kasson, MN; and Jade and Mariah Posey, both of Claremont, MN.
