Dennis Richard Hester

Dennis Hester, 79, of Dodge Center, MN passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Dennis was born on April 8, 1944, in Owatonna, MN to Lawrence and Laura “Gene” (Hendrickson) Hester.  He graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1962.  He started to work as an analyst for IBM in 1965 and continued to work there until his retirement.  On July 31, 1964, he married Marty Clawson in Rochester, MN.  Together they had three sons.

Dennis enjoyed working on his hobby farm, especially with his sheep and poultry, he was an avid hunter. He enjoyed reading books and passing them onto others. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his trees along with walks to the woods and watching nature. He loved tinkering in his garage working on small projects. One thing he was known for is he loved to talk and tell stories to his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by many.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Marty Hester of Dodge Center, MN; children, Eric Hester of New York City, NY; Dan (Tammy) Hester of Pine Island, MN, and Craig (Jasmine) Hester of Kasson, MN; grandchildren, Andrea (Jason), Will (Heather), Alissa, Dakota (Julia), Tanah, Mckenna, and Livia; great-grandchildren, Jack, Landon, Oliver, Max, Mason, and Jake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Blooms of Love, 19392 585th St in Dodge Center, MN. A private family burial will be in Wildwood cemetery in Wasioja, MN.
