The funeral service for Dolores Lucille Smith will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Dolores Lucille Smith, 83, passed away on January 19, 2012, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.
Dolores Lucille Boyum was born on May 21, 1928, the daughter of Selmer and Julia (Kyllo) Boyum in Kasson, MN. Dolores graduated from Kasson High School. She was united in marriage to Burton Smith on May 29, 1946, in Dodge Center. Dolores worked briefly at a bank in Rochester, and also at a hardware store in Dodge Center. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm. From 1973-1989 she worked at Hardware Hank in West Concord, and from 1989-2009 for Lin's Iron, and then retired. Dolores always had a smile, loved her family, enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, and reminiscing about old times.
Dolores is survived by her son, Bruce (Kris) Smith, Dodge Center, MN; four grandchildren, Brandon (Miranda) Smith, Dodge Center, MN; Bradley Smith, Kasson, MN; Bryan Smith, Dodge Center, MN; Kristin Smith, Dodge Center, MN; one great grandchild, Makenna Smith; two brothers, Robert Boyum, Kasson, MN; Stuart (Frances) Boyum, Kasson, MN; three sisters, Sylvia (Herbert) Holets, Rochester, MN; Pauline (Lowell) Tvedt, Kasson, MN; and Karen (Royce) Reed, Rochester, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burton, October 30, 1987; one brother-in-law, Glenn Brannan.
Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Faith Lutheran Church and one hour before the service on Monday.
