Donald Willis Radue

Donald Willis Radue, 91, of Preston, MN passed away of natural causes on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Donald was born in Williston, ND on January 19, 1933. He was the eldest of five children of Boyd and Leona (Gess) Radue.  His siblings were Harlan, Diana, Carol, and Leo.  The family moved to Kenyon, MN in his younger years and he attended country school through the 8th grade.  “Donny” as his family and friends called him, joined the Army in 1953, serving his time in Germany.  He was honorable discharged in 1955.  He was united in marriage to Marcella (Sally) Scherger on July 3, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, MN.  He and Marcella raised five children: Julie, Nancy, Mark, David, and Darla.  Marcella passed away in August 1993.  A few years later he met Jo Ann Funke at the VFW Dance in Rochester and they married on August 8, 1997.

Donald is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jo Ann Radue; five children, Julie Radue of Owatonna, MN, Nancy (Rick) Hansen of Blooming Prairie, MN, Mark Radue of Owatonna, MN, David Radue of New Prague, MN, and Darla (Steve) Skalicky of Ellendale, MN; five grandchildren, Andrew (Emily Welch) Enzenauer, Vicki (Grant) Eipers, Chase (Ellie) Radue, Paige (Derek Kopperud) Radue, and Jack Skalicky; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (Larry) Quanrud; brother-in-law, Richard Brooks; sister-in-law, Delores Scherger; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Leona Radue; his first wife, Marcella (Scherger) Radue; siblings, Harlan Radue, Diana Brooks, and Leo Radue; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Duane Buker; and a brother-in-law, Norbert Scherger.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.
