DONNA MAE PETERSON
The funeral service for Donna Mae Peterson will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Barbara Streed officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery in Concord, MN.
Donna Mae Peterson, 78, of West Concord passed away on April 22, 2017, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.
Donna Mae Hanenberger was born on June 11, 1938, in Eyota Township, Olmsted County, MN to Herman and Pearl (nee Schultz) Hanenberger. She graduated from Bryon High School in 1956. She worked at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester as a nursing assistant. In July 1957, she married Dean Anderson at the Peace United Church in Rochester. They later divorced. On March 18, 1972, she married Gary "Swede" Peterson in Byron. They lived in Skyberg for a few years until they made their home in West Concord, where they have lived for the past 33 years. Donna continued her career in healthcare at the Olmsted Community Hospital and homecare for several families including her own for over 19 years. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, having coffee and visiting with family and friends. She especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna was a past member of Peace United Church in Rochester.
Donna is survived by her sons, Ed Anderson, Kasson, MN; Tom Anderson, Zumbro Falls; daughter, Pennie (Pete) Moe, Skyberg, MN; grandchildren, Alex (Jenny), Madi, Max and Zach Anderson; Christie Anderson, Carrie (Jarvis) Groth and Cassie (Andy) Fortsch; Sarah, Grace and Adam Moe; nine great-grandchildren; and brother, Vernon (Janet) Hanenberger, Eyota, MN; and special nephew, Larry (Donna) Fitzgerald, Concord, MN. Donna was proceeded in death by her husband, Gary "Swede;" sisters, Delores Glassmaker, Betty Fitzgerald, and brothers, Fred and Eugene Hanenberger. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center assisted with arrangements. Memorials are preferred to the family.
