Doris D. Carlson, “Dora”, 68, of Dodge Center, MN died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health Care Center in Lake City, MN.

Doris Diane Root was born January 20, 1943, in Hayfield, MN to Willie and Ruby (Countryman) Root. She graduated from Hayfield High School. She married Allan Carlson on November 17, 1961, and they later divorced. She worked at the Claremont Agency and Claremont Bank for many years. She recently worked at Budget Mart, Dairy Queen and Kwik Trip in Dodge Center. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, crosswords, and spending time with her family and friends.

Doris is survived by her children, Brenda (Kevin) Schendel of St. Cloud, FL, Craig (Jennifer) Carlson of Kasson, MN, Eric (Annette) Carlson of Mantorville, MN, and Elayne (Brett) King of Claremont, MN; fourteen grandchildren, Jacqueline, Andrew, Megan, Kevin, Cory, Randi, Whitney, Aricin, Brasen, Trygg, Hollie, Natasha (Bill), Jenna, and Lucas; one great granddaughter, Kenidy; two sisters, Pat (Lyle) Guenthner of Mesa, AZ and Merece (Tom) Hanson of Hayfield, MN; two brothers, Buzz (Barb) Root and Richard Root, both of Hayfield, MN; and many nieces and nephews who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, MN with the Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN. A Celebration of Life service will follow the service at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the American Legion in Dodge Center.
