EDMUND S. EMERICK

Edmund S. “Ed” Emerick, 89, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN, where he had been a resident for the past two years.
Ed was born June 15, 1922, in Wayne, MI to Edmond J. and Grace (Begin) Emerick. On February 23, 1946, he married Mary E. Nolan at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carleton, MI. They farmed in the Carleton area until 1971, when they moved to Waltham, MN. They continued farming in the Waltham area until retirement. Ed & Mary enjoyed wintering in Winter Haven, FL for many years until poor health prevented them from traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, five children, Ed (Linda) of Waltham, MN; Carolyn (Tom) Birkholz of Maplewood, MN; Ron (Roxi) of Oceanside, CA; Bill (Genell) of Hayfield, MN and Dave (Tami) of Rochester, MN; 10 grandchildren, Rebecca (Jason) Tjelta, Scott (Amanda) Emerick, Jeff Birkholz, Tim (Ruth) Emerick, Kristina Emerick, Brian (Laura) Emerick, Leah Emerick, Alex Emerick, Michelle Emerick, and Steven (Lindsay) Emerick; five great grandchildren, Natalie, Nicole, Valerie, and Stephanie Tjelta and Cameron Swank. He is also survived by a sister, Golda Lawlor of San Andreas, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 22, 2012, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501~2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be Monday, January 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150~2nd Street NE in Hayfield. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield, MN.
