The funeral service for Edward Miles Phelps will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 ~ 120th Avenue SW, Kasson, MN with Reverend Mark Schwartz officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Edward Miles Phelps, 85, passed away at Prairie Meadows in Kasson, MN on December 24, 2014.
Edward was born at home on January 23, 1929, the son of William and Katherine (Thomas) Phelps in Dodge Center, MN. He was raised on the farm and worked at the Skelly Gas Station for 14 years, Mayo Clinic for 24 years and retired in 1986. Edward was united in marriage to Joan Esther Churchward on June 13, 1948, at the church parsonage in Dodge Center, MN. The couple had been married sixty-six and one half years.
After his retirement the couple spent 21 years in Florida and moved to Kasson in 2007.
Edward enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, and working on classic cars. He loved spending time with his family, especially with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Edward is survived by his wife, Joan Esther Phelps, Kasson, MN; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Buck, Byron, MN; two sons, Rick (Gail) Phelps, Byron, MN; Bruce (Barb) Phelps, Rochester, MN; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Leonard and Fredrick; 2 sisters, Myrtle Dengler and Joyce Langworthy.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
