ELIZABETH MARGARET CHICOS
Elizabeth Margaret Chicos, 96, formerly of West Concord, passed away in Rochester on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Upon death, Elizabeth’s body was donated to Mayo Clinic for research. A belated funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2019, at St. John Baptiste de la Salle Church in Dodge Center, MN. There will be visitation time for family and friends an hour prior beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sisters of St. Francis, Assisi Heights, Rochester, MN.
Elizabeth Margaret Mary Staloch was born to Joseph and Minnie (Schultz) Staloch on March 29, 1921, and raised 10 miles north of Wells, MN in Dunbar Township, Faribault County. The family later relocated to a farm between Wells and Easton. Elizabeth attended school in Dunbar Township and in Wells at St. Casimir’s Catholic School. Elizabeth often commented about how much she enjoyed school. Later Elizabeth moved to Rochester, MN and worked at St. Marys Hospital in housekeeping.
On July 15, 1947, Elizabeth married Leo J. Chicos at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Claremont, MN. The couple lived in Ellington township, Dodge County, for many years. Among Elizabeth’s interests were flower gardening and her pet dogs and cats. Later in life, Elizabeth enjoyed taking lessons and playing the accordian and leading the rosary at church services.
Surviving Elizabeth are daughters, Teresa (Randy) Klement of Rochester, MN; Rita (Jordan Cruz) Chicos of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Marie Sexton of Medford, MN and son, Zachary Chicos of Los Angeles, CA. Grandchildren include Julie (Scott Springman) Sexton and their children Leo, Elise, and Charlie of St. Anthony, MN; Jonathan Sexton and daughter Taya; Jacqueline (Cary) Berg and their children Mariah, Brody, and Jenna; Jeffrey Sexton and Daniel Sexton all of Medford, MN. Also surviving are sister, Catherine Zimney of Albert Lea, MN and brother, Louis Staloch of Easton, MN and many nieces, nephews. Preceding Elizabeth in death were her husband, Leo in 2015, siblings, Edward, Roman, Dorothy, and Marie, son-in-law, Jerome Sexton, and several brother and sisters-in-law. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street in Dodge Center is in charge of arrangements. Blessed be her memory.
