The funeral service for Elizabeth Martha Eppen will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale with Reverend Jeff Sage officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale.
Elizabeth Martha Eppen, 85, died Tuesday evening, January 20, 2009, at Blooming Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie, MN.
Elizabeth Martha Kuegele was born on June 3, 1923, in Riverhead Long Island, NY the daughter of Martin and Margaret (Jank) Kuegele. Elizabeth was baptized at Riverhead Long Island, NY and confirmed at Pine Island, NY. She graduated from Warwick High School, in Warwick, NY and attended college at Valparaiso with a BA in education. She was united in marriage to Maynard Eppen on December 3, 1949, in Shawneetown, Missouri. Elizabeth was a teacher at Mabel; Chelam, WA; Goodhue; Brownsdale; and Akeley schools. The couple resided in Goodhue, MN for a few years and moved to Brownsdale in 1952, Akeley, MN in 1979, and in 1994, they moved to rural Austin, MN. In 2005, the couple moved to the Primrose Apartment in Austin.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Maynard Eppen, Austin, MN; Dale (Hisako) Eppen, Fountain, MN; Sandra (David) Grant, Austin, MN; Alan (Ellen) Eppen, Edgeley, ND; Dean (Wilma) Eppen, Charlotte, ME; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 daughter.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Brownsdale, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
