Elizabeth Anne Fredrickson

September 9, 1928 — March 6, 2024

Hayfield

Elizabeth (Liz) Fredrickson, 95, died on March 6, 2024, at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.  She was at peace and surrounded by her family and caring Field Crest staff.

Liz, was born on September 9th, 1928, in Blooming Prairie, MN to John and Marie (Peterka) Fiebiger. She grew up on a farm in a large, loving family with 9 siblings.  Even though her sharp mind was fading the last couple of years, she could still recite all of her brothers and sisters by name and birth order.  Early years were challenging, living through the great depression and with the tragic loss of her father when Liz was just 11 years.  Her mom instilled a strong work ethic in her children caring for livestock and chickens, food was never an issue for the Fiebiger family.

On April 3rd 1948, Liz married Robert “Bob” Fredrickson at the St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie and they made Hayfield, MN their home. Bob and Liz’s brother, Bob Fiebiger served together in USN during WWII, and introduced them when they came home from the service.  They were married for 55 years.

Liz had a strong Catholic faith and almost never missed a Sunday mass.  She was a dedicated mother and fierce supporter of her children.  Bob and Liz attended every sporting event they could in both High School and College.  You never wanted to get between mama bear and her cubs!  There was no quit in her encouragement to help her kids to succeed.  She worked at the Central Coop in Blooming Prairie, Johnson Pharmacy in Hayfield and was the bookkeeper for Fredrickson Sanitation.  Liz was a passionate and successful Avon Representative who believed in her product.  She loved Christmas and decorating her home with multiple fiber optic Avon displays.   She was a legendary bowler and enjoyed nights out with her team.  She was proud to be the “The Oldest Bowler in Hayfield” for several years!  She enjoyed the American Legion Auxiliary and was a member for over 50 years.  Liz loved bingo, pull tabs, casino runs with Kathy and Mary Beth and was happiest surrounded by friends and family. Her excellent memory, was the source for all information regarding cousins wedding dates, birthdays, newborn names, and any relevant information required at a family reunion.  Liz will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren and the Hayfield community.

Liz was preceded in death by her husband Bob, daughter Pat Hayden; parents, John and Marie (Peterka) Fiebiger; brothers Freddy, Frank, Carl and Bob and sisters, Dorothy, Frieda, Ruth, Edith and Hilda.  She is survived by her children, Kathy (John) DeMaria, Steve Fredrickson, David (Judy) Fredrickson and Mary Beth Boomgaarden (Brian); grandchildren Angela (Jacob) Fahl, Nick (Kalyn) DeMaria, Jessie (Devon) Brady, Samantha (Cody) Eich, Jack Olson, Taylor & Courtney Fredrickson and nine great grandchildren, Avery, Julia, Jude, and Jona Fahl, Brady, Carson and Caden Eich and Wyles and Novi DeMaria; and many nieces and nephews.
