ELLEN JOHNSON
The funeral service for Ellen Johnson, will be 11:00 Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale, MN with Pastor Ken Petzold officiating. Interment will be in Waltham Township Cemetery in rural Waltham.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 ~ 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN.
Ellen was born on March 16, 1930, the daughter of Glenn and Rena Johnson of Waltham, MN. She attended rural school in Waltham Township, continuing High School in Austin, and a year of Teachers Training followed by teaching in Oakland, Sargeant and Waltham. She then attended Mankato State Teachers College to complete her degree. She then taught in Northfield, and completed 41 years of teaching, with 25 of those in Austin. On Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2016, she went to be with her Savior at Our House in Austin. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting, hand work, crafts, entertaining family and friends, cooking and baking. Ellen was a member of The First Baptist Church of Brownsdale, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and active in the Ladies Missionary Group. Ellen was a member of the local area and State Teachers Group, Retired Educator Group, and a member of the Waltham Project Group, Brownsdale Study Club and Delta Kappa Gama.
Ellen is survived by two brothers, Wayne and Lowell Johnson, Waltham, MN; one sister, Mildred Johnson, Brownsdale, MN and one sister-in-law, Lillian Johnson, Ankeny, IA; two nieces, Marlene (Bob) Heinz, LaSalle, IL; Linda (Arlie) Brandmeyer, Ankeny, IA; nephew, Wesley (Dondee) Johnson, Sargeant, MN; great nephew Bryce (Krista Sommerfield) Johnson, Stewartville, MN; great niece and nephew Sydney and Aaron Brandmeyer; Ankeny, IA; great-great nieces, Kelsey and Carly; and great-great nephew, Lucas-Johnson, Stewartville, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Neil Johnson.
The family prefers memorials directed to the Heart Fund or donors' choice. Blessed be her memory.
