The funeral service for Elna Junitta May Senjem will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church 70640 ~ 260th Avenue in rural Hayfield, MN with Gregory Gasman officiating. Interment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 ~ 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.
Elna Senjem, 103, of Hayfield, MN passed away at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield on May 3, 2016. Elna was born on December 12, 1912, in Hayfield, MN the daughter of Dilert and Clara (Evenson) Falch. She was united in marriage to Rudy Senjem on June 22, 1936, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She and Rudy lived in Austin for 32 years and were members of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin for 30 years and members of West St. Olaf Lutheran Church after their return to Hayfield in 1976. Elna enjoyed crocheting, baking, gardening, quilting, and was active in church activities.
Elna is survived by her children, Barbie (Charles Dege) Rees, McHenry, IL; Delano (Frannette) Senjem, Hayfield, MN; John (Janet Hutton Senjem) Senjem Rochester, MN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rudy; two brothers and 3 sisters. The family prefers memorials to West St. Olaf Cemetery Fund. Her words of wisdom for life were "BE KIND."
