Erika Eggert

It is with sadness and celebration that we announce the passing of Erika Eggert who left this world peacefully at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, MN at the age of 96 years on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Erika Griese was born on May 29, 1930, to Erich and Maria Griese in Wankendorf, Germany. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Wankendorf. Erika came to Waltham, Minnesota on May 8, 1953. She was united in marriage to Horst Franz Eggert on May 29, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church Waltham, to this union one son was born. Erika was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church Waltham for over 50 years. She helped her husband with their business, Eggert Farm Service. They retired in 1996.

She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, flowers, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed many trips back to Germany. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Living only a block away from her son, the two granddaughters became her world. She cared for them when Jean worked and every day after school.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Norbert and Jean; two granddaughters, Emily and Amy and her husband Tim; two great grandsons, Walter and Henry Simmons; nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and sister-in-law, and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 29972 570th Ave in Waltham, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will take place at the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
