The memorial mass for Eva Mae Mason will 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 150 2nd Street NE in Hayfield, MN with Reverend William Kulas celebrating. Inurnment will be in the spring at St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery in Plainview, MN. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Tuesday.
Eva Mae Mason, 76, of Dodge Center, MN died on Sunday morning, December 26, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Eva Mae Batzel was born on January 26, 1934, the daughter of August and Ada (Stowers) Batzel in Claremont, MN. Eva married Edward Mason on November 20th, 1954, at St. John Catholic Church in Rochester. The couple had no children. Eva worked at the Kahler Hotel for ten years, Michaels Supper Club for two years, and the Hubbell House for eighteen years. Eva was godmother to several nephews and one niece.
Eva is survived by Helen (Luvern) Tripp, Mantorville, MN; Lois (Robert) Gerber, Del Ray Beach, FL; Grace (Peter) Meier, Hastings, MN; Jeanette Berg, Rochester, MN; Kenneth Batzel, Rochester, MN; William Weatherly, Rochester, MN; 36 nieces and nephews and 65 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edward Mason, sisters, Lucile Shiffer; Ethel (Dottie) Weatherly; Renna Giesler; brothers, Arno (Jack), Everett and Ernest Batzel; six infant great-great nieces and nephews. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of arrangements.
