EVELYN MAY DOSTAL
Evelyn May Dostal, 92, of Kasson, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Prairie Meadows Senior Living in Kasson, MN.
Evelyn was born April 11, 1923 in Olmsted County to Markie and Isabelle (Bartholomew) Stafford. On December 24, 1940, she married Charles Hilliard and he later passed away on October 24, 1960. Evelyn married Wayne Gransee and they later divorced. Evelyn then married LeRoy Dostal on December 26, 1981 and LeRoy passed away on November 23, 2006. Evelyn worked at Anderson's Grocery in the produce department, The Sunset Inn and other local stores. Evelyn was the owner and operator of the Knight House in Dodge Center. She was a member of the Dodge Center United Methodist Church, Kasson Methodist Church, Women Society of Christian Service through the church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Dodge Center. Evelyn was a prize winning pie maker and great cook. She enjoyed bowling, gambling, especially scratch off tickets, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. To the world she was our mother, but to her family and friends, she was our world.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Jeanette (Bill) Dostal of Alexandria, MN, David (Sherry) Dostal of Meadow Lakes, TX, Steven (Shelley) Dostal of Casa Grande, AZ, Robert (LuAnn) Dostal of Madelia, MN, Gary Dostal of Rochester, Pamela (Bobby) Runyon of St. Petersburg, FL, Peggy (Bruce) Berndt of Rochester, Rebecca (Dave) Paulson of Blooming Prairie, MN, Richard (Sue) Gransee of Cosmos, MN, Marcia Gransee of Modesto, CA, Leslie (Judy) Gransee of Lonsdale, MN, Myron Gransee of Rice Lake, WI and Forrest (Paulette) Gransee of Sherman , TX; 44 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and 11 great, great-grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by her cherished daughter-in-law, Vicki (Rod) Jorgenson; sister, Mavis Atkinson of Pine Island; brothers, Donald (Arleen) Stafford of Mesa, AZ, Claude (Muriel) Stafford of Dodge Center; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Hilliard and LeRoy Dostal; sons, Randall Hilliard, Wayne Dostal, TJ and Brent Gransee; daughters, Linda Newman, Pat Dostal and Linda Gransee; brothers, Kyle, Harold and Fred Stafford and sisters, Lucille Capretz, Janice Green and Arlene Erickson.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Dodge Center United Methodist Church, 20 First St. NE, Dodge Center, MN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Rev. Deb Miller will be officiating with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson, MN. Arrangements entrusted to Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 501 2nd Street SW, Dodge Center.
