FLORENCE IRENE NELSON
Florence (Flo) Irene Nelson, 100, of Dodge Center and formerly of Hayfield passed away on August 2, 2016, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
Florence Irene Nelson was born on May 20, 1916, the daughter of Olaf and Iva (Larson) in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Her family moved to Hayfield when she was 3 years old. She graduated from Hayfield High School. Florence married Edward Nelson on October 2, 1948, in Hayfield. They lived most of their married life in the Hayfield area. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Circle and the Senior Citizens Center. As a homemaker and mother she liked to garden, cook, bake, play 500 cards and in her younger years she loved to dance.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; siblings, Clarence, Alvin, Ann and Bertha. Also, her daughter-in-law, Toni (Larry) Nelson.
Florence is survived by her children, Bonnie (Tom) Swenke, Zumbro Falls, MN; Larry Nelson, Dodge Center, MN; Jerome (Lois) Nelson, Dodge Center, MN; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 ~ 1st Street in Hayfield. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield assisted with arrangements.
