FRANCIS ARTHUR OSCAR BUNGUM

Francis A.O. Bungum, 95, plus years passed away peacefully on September 11, 2018, in the presence of family at the family home in which he was born in Dodge County. He was born November 6, 1922, the son of Oscar and Anne (Mogen) Bungum in rural Hayfield on the farm where he spent his entire life. The farm was homesteaded in 1881, by his grandfather who immigrated from Nomedahl, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed at Evanger Lutheran Church of Sargeant, Minnesota where he remained an active member.   He attended a country school. In 1943, he took over the family farm, the same year he was united in marriage to Marion Nereson of Byron to whom he was married for 75 years. Together they farmed and raised their family.

Francis is survived by his wife, Marion and his five children, Galen (Marcia) Bungum, Hayfield, MN; Michelle Bungum, Rochester, Marcia Jane (Jerry) Hutchinson, Byron, MN; Barry (Rita) Bungum, Brownsdale, MN; Brian (Brigid) Bungum, Denver, CO; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Anne Bungum, two sisters, Marion Alrick, Pearl Gulbransen and an infant grandson. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660 Avenue, Sargeant, MN. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church with Reverend Dwight Dobell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
