Frederika Rieken, 94, of Hayfield, MN passed away on May 20, 2024, at Grand Meadows Senior Living in Grand Meadow, MN.
Frederika was born on September 7, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Hildegard (Suchting) Tebben in Wellsburg, IA. She attended Grundy County School in Wellsburg, IA. Frederika was united in marriage to Peter Rieken on November 11, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, Frederike and Peter moved to Sargeant, MN and then in 1954 to Hayfield where she farmed with her husband. Frederika worked at St. Mary’s as a housekeeper, then worked at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield as a nursing assistant and housekeeper. She worked at Field Crest until her retirement in 1999. After retirement she worked in home health care as a part time job.
Frederika enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needle point and taking camping trips with family. She loved her grandkids and was a very special grandmother to her grandchildren. She always welcomed our friends with an open house and kindness.
Frederika is survived by her children, Edward Rieken, Kingston Springs, TN; Delores Jones, Winona, MN; Ilene Grosam, Brownsdale, MN; Bradley (Sally) Rieken, Austin, MN; Richard (Tanya) Rieken, Sargeant, MN; grandchildren, Sherri Jonsgard, Jeanette Ackman and Corey, Marie Rieken, Mary Stevens and Nic, Nancy Langelett-Dickson, Jason Grosam, Aimee Whiteaker and Nick, Rebecca Grosam, Toni Rieken, Tamra Claunch and Jeremy, Tristan Rieken, Jori Rieken and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Rieken; daughter, Gloria Rieken, and son-in-law, Tom Grosam.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2024 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield with Reverend Kristen Anderson officiating. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
A very special thank you goes to Mike Haugh for all the care and friendship that he gave to our mom the past three years. Without him, she would not have been able to stay on the farm as long as she did.
