GENE THOMAS HALLAWAY

Gene Thomas Hallaway, 79, of Claremont, MN passed away on September 12, 2018, at his home in Claremont.

Gene was born on December 23, 1938, the son of Herbert and Myrtle (Wincell) Hallaway in Ripley Township, Dodge County, Minnesota. He married Janet Trapp on August 18, 1956, in Claremont, MN.

He farmed all of his life. The 153 year old family farm is now farmed by his two sons, Michael and Mitchell (the fifth generation.) Gene worked hard but also found time to enjoy life. There were always toys to be enjoyed by family, go carts, snowmobiles, motorcycles, model trains, and model airplanes. He was especially proud of his family and they were utmost on his mind in his final hours. His humor, playfulness, and smile will be missed by family and friends.

Gene is survived by his wife, Janet Hallaway, Claremont, MN; children, David (Terri Crist) Hallaway, Rochester, MN; Diana (Kevin) Eipers, Claremont, MN; Michelle (Philip Pardey) Hallaway, Falcom Heights, MN; Michael (Mary) Hallaway, Claremont, MN; Mitchell (Terri) Hallaway, Claremont, MN; Kirstie Ginapp, Round Rock, TX; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Joan (Brian) Rech, Nemo, SD; and brother, Dennis Hallaway, Eagle Lake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and one brother.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street in Dodge Center with visitation one hour before the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
