GEORGE RILEY RUNNELLS, JR.
George Riley Runnells, 82, of Dodge Center, MN passed away on August 12, 2014, at his home in Dodge Center.
Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2014 with Military Honors by the Dodge Center American Legion. Lunch will be served after the graveside service at the Dodge Center American Legion. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2014, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center.
George Riley Runnells, Jr. was born on September 1, 1931, the son of George, Sr. and Minnie (Schaffner) Runnells in La Blanca, Texas. From 1948-1952, he served his country with the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War. On May 14, 1951, he married Esther Ann Schoenfelder in Idaho. George was a Police Officer in Eyota and Dodge Center until 1965, when he started to work for Garwin McNeilus until he retired in 2009. George loved to garden and go on fishing trips with his best friend, Norm Pankow of Rochester. George also loved to go to bingo.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Esther Runnells, Dodge Center, MN; two daughters, Debra (David) Wytaske, Claremont, MN; Gayle (Mike) Freerksen, Dodge Center, MN; two sons, Wayne (Marie) Runnells; and Robert Runnells, both of Dodge Center, MN; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Minnie; and step father, Ira Young.
