GLADYS MAMIE JOHNSON
The funeral service for Gladys Mamie Johnson will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Gladys Mamie Johnson, 96, died Tuesday morning, November 11, 2008, at her daughter’s home in Rochester.
Gladys was born on August 30, 1912, the daughter of Martin and Regina (Skogen) Exe in Dodge County, Minnesota. She attended Sargeant and Dodge County Schools. Gladys was united in marriage to Roy Johnson on November 12, 1930, in Hayfield, MN. Gladys and her husband farmed in the Sargeant area. She worked at Maves Rest Home in Hayfield, and in the Hayfield School System. She was a member of the Hayfield American Legion Auxiliary. Gladys enjoyed gardening, baking, and being with her family. She was member of the Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran Church and also belonged to a Mother’s Club.
Gladys is survived by her two daughters, Lorna Lybeck, Rochester, MN; Betty Reynolds, Dexter, MN; one son, Merlin (Lynn) Johnson, Cass Lake, MN; one sister, Ruth Senjem, Hayfield, MN; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; 1 infant son; 2 daughters; 2 grandsons; 1 great-great grandchild; 1 brother; 3 sisters; and 3 sons-in-law.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church. The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church, Mayo Clinic Hospice or donors choice.
