James Lonnie Herrick

James Lonnie Herrick, 72, of Claremont, MN passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

James was born on December 24, 1949, in Southbridge, MA to James and Lillian (Farr) Herrick.  He grew up on a dairy farm in Massachusetts.  He loved being on the farm.  He became the youngest certified welder in Massachusetts at the age of 16.  His family moved to Vermont where he continued to work on the dairy farm with his dad.  After his dad passed away, he went back into his welding career.

James worked as a troubleshooting welder for Alcorn in Claremont, MN and he also worked at Stussy Construction in Mantorville, MN.  He was always a very hard worker.  He also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry.  When James wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, and singing.    He has spent the last 27 years with his significant other, Phyllis Posey.  James was a very stern but loving man and will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his life partner, Phyllis Posey of Claremont, MN; children, James Herrick Miller, Kimberly Bolby, Dustin Herrick, Rocky Posey, Jody (Darwin) Haiby, Mickie (Gary) Berg, and Jeremy (Jennifer) Posey; sister, Peggy Herrick (Max) Phillips; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nephews, Billy Herrick, David Herrick, Travis Herrick, Wade Herrick, Dale Iott, and Shane Iott; and his loving dog, Brandy.

James was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Johnson; brother, William D. Herrick; stepson, Dennis Posey; and step-grandsons, Cody Tozier and Matthew Blood.

A visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 25 South Street SW Dodge Center, MN.
