James Brian Kalodrich

On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, James Kalodrich, an avid hunter, fisherman and skilled farmhand, succumbed to a massive heart attack at the age of 55. James was born on June 25, 1964 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Roger and Penny (Phillips) Kalodrich. Growing up as the fourth of six Kalodrich children, James did struggle in school and rebelled against the authoritative rules as a teen. He soon discovered that he much preferred being in the great outdoors instead of being cooped up in a classroom. At a young age, he became a skilled trapper, hunter, fisherman and farmhand. When he wasn't shooting game, James was always up for shooting the crap with whomever he was with. His big heart and unique sense of humor will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
James was preceded in death by his father, Roger, and his mother, Penny. He is survived by his partner Tracie Cheney, her children, Kayla Farley and husband Derek Boyd, Shawn Cheney, Kelli Cheney and husband Abe Luhman, and her six grandchildren, Brianna 12, Sara 10, Isy 11, Evie 8, Sylis 7, and Tucker 1. Tracie's family brought immense joy and color to James' life and in return he gave them his best. James is also survived by his brother Michael and four sisters, Renee Nierby, Lisa Sieve, Julie Rae Burke, and Nicole Horton, along with three nephews, Brandon Sieve, Aaron and Lennon Kalodrich, and two nieces, Shelby Horton and the star dancer, Taylor Sieve.
A celebration of James' life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27th at 219 2 nd St. SE, Hayfield, MN (Tracie’s home).
