The funeral service for James Stewart Senjem, Sr. will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church 70640 260th Avenue, rural Hayfield, MN with Reverend Darby Lawrence officiating. Interment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hayfield, MN.
James Stewart Senjem, Sr. 66, of Hayfield, (Oslo) MN died on October 3, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
James Stewart Senjem, Sr. was born on March 19, 1943, the son of Oswald and Elna (Hyland) Senjem in Hayfield. James graduated from Hayfield High School and married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Johnson, on September 2, 1961. He retired from IBM after 30 years and had been working part time at Tiegen’s Oslo Store the last 10 years. He was a member of West St. Olaf Church and was a former council member, choir member, and usher. He was a member of the Hap-hazards band. He enjoyed the outdoors and in his earlier years, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. For many years, he and his wife enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Round Lake by Aitkin, MN. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with his four beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed attending local lutefisk dinners, a cup of coffee with friends, and sharing a hearty laugh over a good joke.
In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by two sons, Jim Senjem, Jr. of Mantorville, MN; Mark (Tammy) Senjem of Pine Island, MN; four grandchildren, Sarah (Blake) Smith, Benjamin Senjem, Ashley Senjem, and Tyler Senjem; two sisters, Joanne Glynn of LaCrosse, WI; and Judy (Lon) Jones of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW, Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
